Reaper’s Chest has existed in Sea of Thieves for a while. Pirates navigating the seas should recognize the red and green lightning bolts on the horizon as beacons leading them to this prized chest.
What all pirates will find new and unusual in Sea of Thieves is a swirling beam of golden and golden light. This new glittering pillar of gold is a signal to all pirates that there is a new Reaper’s Bounty up for grabs!
What is Reaper’s Bounty?
Reaper’s Bounty is very similar to Reaper’s Chest. It is a rare and extremely valuable chest that constantly broadcasts its location to every pirate at sea.
You can easily tell the difference between the two just by looking at them. Reaper’s Chest has a cool gray top while Reaper’s Bounty has a nice shiny gold top.
Another difference between Reaper’s Chest and Reaper’s Bounty is the payout. Instead of casting 25 doubts when it’s your turn to succeed, Reaper’s Bounty grants you 25,000 gold!
UPDATE: As of the February 2020 Crew of Rage update, Reaper’s Bounty is worth 10,000 gold instead of 25,000 gold.
The Magical Secret Box just had some competitions!
Where to find Reaper’s Bounties
Similar to Reaper’s Chests, Reaper’s Bounties spawn in the hulls of shipwrecks.
They spawn in random shipwrecks at random times, so you can’t predict when Reaper’s Bounty will spawn.
Similar to Reaper’s Chest, Reaper’s Bounties is located in the Fort of the Damned Vault. Reaper’s Bounty adds 10,000 worth of gold to an already lucrative loot!
What do you think of Reaper’s Bounties?
While Fort of the Damned is a guaranteed way to find Reaper’s Bounty as mentioned above, another way is by chance.
Vortex Lights
Once a Reaper’s Bounty has surfaced and hasn’t been touched by another pirate, you’ll spot swirls of golden light swirling through the air.
These swirling lights can be seen throughout the world of Sea of Thieves, just like Skull and Ship Clouds.
Reaper’s Bounty ejects a gold pillar from a randomly spawned shipwreck until picked up.
card table
Just because you don’t see shining gold in the sky doesn’t mean there isn’t a Reaper’s Bounty out in the wild just waiting to be stolen.
When a pirate touches Reaper’s Bounty, the pillar of light disappears. However, the symbol on the map board indicates where Reaper’s Bounty will remain.
If you’re on the hunt for a Reaper’s Bounty, be sure to scan your map far and wide in case someone happens to get one on their ship.
Where do you deposit your Reaper’s Bounty?
Before players can transfer Reaper’s Chests to Duke or Stitcher Jim in a Tavern, these new Reaper’s Bounties, along with Reaper’s Chests, must now be converted to Masked Strangers in The Reaper’s Hideout.
Duke no longer accepts Reaper’s Chests.
Due to the high risk of taking a Reaper’s Chest to a location where other pirates can easily ambush you, Reaper’s Chests are now worth 30 Doubts!
What do you get for Reaper’s Bounty?
Converting a Reaper’s Bounty into a Masked Stranger will net you 10,000 gold, as well as Doubt if you have any. There are some compliments that come with filming Reaper’s Bounties.
