American Center (AC)

ThatAmerican center, sponsored by the United States Embassy’s Department of Public Affairs, is a single source for up-to-date information on all aspects of the United States, its people, and its politics.

The America Center is free to the public and welcomes visits from government officials, scholars, journalists, students, and others interested in information about the United States.

Press program

The Public Affairs Department (PAS) receives and arranges interview requests from Vietnamese and international journalists interested in the Embassy’s activities and Vietnam-US relations. In addition, from our Washington Records, an electronic information resource of the US Department of State in Washington, we select transcripts of speeches, articles and commentaries by US officials from the newspaper, print and electronic newspapers of the United States for translation and distribution to interested Vietnamese readers and also for local press on request. Occasionally, we also arrange for American experts or researchers to come to Hanoi and discuss topics of interest to the domestic press.

Fulbright program in Vietnam

Beginning in 1992 with the goal of increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Vietnam, the Fulbright program in Vietnam has expanded to include five elements: the American Scholar Exchange Program, the American Scholar Exchange Program, and the Vietnam Scholar Exchange Program UN Scholarship Exchange, US Student Exchange Program, UN Student Exchange Program, Business Education Program. On behalf of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Committee and the US Department of State, PAS Hanoi manages all elements to ensure the smooth and systematic development of the Fulbright program in Vietnam.

International visitor program

Each year, the US Embassy has the opportunity to identify applicants applying to participate in four-week thematic study tours to the United States. Candidates must be between the ages of 30 and 45, have worked in their field for at least 5 years, have academic and professional excellence in their fields, and be approved by the employer. participate in an exchange program sponsored by the US government. Common IVP themes are economics, public administration, law, education, environmental protection, public health, social issues, composition, women’s issues, international and national security issues. Knowledge of English is not always required.

The Humphrey Program by H.H.

This one-year, ongoing, academic and research-based public administration program sponsors up to seven mid-career Vietnamese professionals each year. Participants spend a year at a US university and can also complete an off-campus internship in their field during this time. Applicants from the fields of public health, environment, education, law, human rights, public policy, technology policy and management, urban planning, journalism, security and defense, education, treatment and substance abuse prevention are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a TOEFL score of 525 or higher to be considered for admission. Candidates must also commit to serving the common good.

American speaker program

The American Speakers Program invites and pays American scholars and experts to speak at institutions of interest in Vietnam on a variety of subjects including history, literature, culture, politics, US economics, US foreign policy, and US regional and international security strategies. PAS will also consider covering organizational costs such as interpreting and translating presentation materials. Interested Vietnamese organizations can contact PAS Hanoi to discuss the possibility of such a project.

State Alumni

The US Department of State’s Office of Education and Culture (ECA) invites alumni of all US exchange programs to join State Alumni, the online community by and for alumni. Launched in April 2001, the site offers alumni a way to network and stay in touch. The website also offers alumni a calendar of events, funding opportunities and job postings. EducationUSAis a global network of more than 400 advisory centers supported by the US Department of State’s Office of Culture and Education.
