Multi-read content need a woman right now

The Global Fund for Women’s approach focuses on the empowerment of women, girls and all those who have historically been marginalized. Women’s human rights are essential to achieve gender equality worldwide. You can find out more about gender equality here.

What are women’s human rights?

Women’s rights are fundamental human rights that were respected by the United Nations for all people on this planet almost 70 years ago. These rights include the right to live free from violence, slavery and discrimination; Educated; property right; vote; and earn a fair and equal wage.

As the now famous saying goes, “Women’s rights are human rights”. That means women enjoy all these rights. But almost everywhere in the world women and girls are still denied it, often simply because of their gender.

Women’s empowerment is not just about empowering every single woman or girl; It is also about changing the way countries and communities work. It’s about changing laws and policies, winning hearts and minds, and investing in powerful women’s organizations and movements.

The Global Fund for Women exists to support the courageous and tireless efforts of women’s groups who work every day to empower women and girls. These groups work to ensure women can own property, vote, run for office, be paid fairly and live free from violence – including domestic violence, sexual assault and other harmful bacteria such as female genital mutilation.

What rights do we represent?

We want every woman and girl to exercise their protected rightsUniversal Declaration of Human Rights. We also support other rights that are important for women’s equality. We protect a woman’s right to choose when and when to have children and to receive quality healthcare, which means not dying in pregnancy or childbirth. We know that female genital mutilation is a violation of girls’ rights and must be eliminated. And we support the right of all women to live an equal and non-discriminatory life, regardless of gender or identity.

We support two important documents on women’s rights according to the United Nations declaration. ThatConvention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), an international women’s rights law, requires governments to end sex discrimination and affirm women’s rights to health services, including family planning.Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, adopted at the United Nations Fourth World Conference in Beijing in 1995, is a call to integrate gender equality and women’s rights into all areas of life.

Women’s Rights and the Global Goals

The United Nations Millennium Development Goals set specific targets for poverty reduction, including those promoting gender equality in education, employment and representation. UN Women acknowledges that progress has been uneven. More and more women around the world are going to school and working. However, girls still drop out more often than boys (particularly at lower secondary level). And although the number of women in elected bodies has increased, they still make up only 21.8% of MPs. In addition, women’s rights are still under threat in many areas not covered by the Millennium Development Goals – from violence against women to sexual and reproductive rights. And women, who are already excluded because of their race, caste, sex, income, or position, have the least benefit of all.

The new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) promise real progress on women’s rights and include a specific goal (Goal 5) on gender equality. Goal 5 is broader than the ultimate gender equality goal and includes goals to end gender-based violence, eliminate child marriage and female genital mutilation, and ensure access to health, sexual and reproductive health. This includes equal access to education, expanding women’s economic opportunities and reducing the burden of unpaid care work on women and girls. We are all now holding governments accountable for their commitments and for ensuring that goals are met. Women’s participation – and grassroots women’s groups funding solutions – will be key to success.

What does the future of women’s rights look like?

The future of global women’s rights isthreatened. The US government is proposing cuts in foreign aid and tough policies — from abortion and refugee resettlement to climate change — that directly threaten the health, dignity, and well-being of Americans, women and girls everywhere. We need to think: will women around the world lose their hard-won rights, or will the backlash instead be the catalyst for new victories?

This moment calls for reviving new efforts and focusing on empowering women’s movements to help lead the charge for social change on the most pressing issues of our time. The Global Fund for Women is committed to turning these challenges into opportunities for women to assert their leadership, action and voice. By 2020, the Global Fund for Women will ensure women’s rights movements are powerful and achieve lasting results. Now is the time to stand with the global women’s movement.

The Global Fund for Women works for a world where every woman and girl can realize and enjoy their human rights.

Only when women and girls have access to the full range of their rights – from equal pay and land to sex, non-violence, access to education and the right to health as a mother – can equality really be achieved. Only when women assume leadership roles, create peace and have an equal political voice will economies and nations be transformed. And only then do all women and girls have the right to self-determination to which they are entitled.

Need You Now – Lady Antebellum (Lyrics)

Lyrics video for “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum

Need You Now Lyrics :

[Intro: Hillary Scott & Charles Kelley]

“Hey, sorry I missed your call, just leave a message after the beep”

“Hey, yeah, it’s me, just been thinking about everything that night

I don’t know, I just miss you so much

Can you call me back?”

[Verse 1: Hillary Scott]

Picture perfect memories

Scattered all around the floor

Reachin’ for the phone ’cause I can’t fight it anymore

[Pre-Chorus: Hillary Scott & Charles Kelley]

And I wonder if I ever cross your mind

For me, it happens all the time

[Chorus: Lady Antebellum]

It’s a quarter after one, I’m all alone and I need you now

Said I wouldn’t call, but I’ve lost all control and I need you now

And I don’t know how I can do without

I just need you now

[Verse 2: Charles Kelley]

Another shot of whiskey

Can’t stop lookin’ at the door

Wishing you’d come sweeping in the way you did before

[Pre-Chorus: Lady Antebellum & Charles Kelley]

And I wonder if I ever cross your mind

For me, it happens all the time

[Chorus: Lady Antebellum]

It’s a quarter after one, I’m a little drunk and I need you now

Said I wouldn’t call, but I’ve lost all control and I need you now

And I don’t know how I can do without

I just need you now

Whoa, oh

[Bridge: Hillary Scott & Charles Kelley]

I guess I’d rather hurt than feel nothin’ at all

[Chorus: Hillary Scott & Charles Kelley & Lady Antebellum]

It’s a quarter after one, I’m all alone and I need you now

And I said I wouldn’t call, but I’m a little drunk and I need you now

And I don’t know how I can do without

I just need you now

[Outro: Lady Antebellum & Hillary Scott]

I just need you now

Oh baby, I need you now
