Multi-read content oh beautiful for spacious skies

Oh beautiful for the wide sky,
The following applies to the amber particle waves:
For the majesty of the purple mountain
Above the fruit plains!
America! America!
God gives you his grace
And honor your goodness with brotherhood
From the sea to the sea lights!

O beauties for pilgrim feet
Whose tantrum
A straight line of free beats
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God will correct all mistakes
Acknowledge that your soul is in control
freedom of the law!

Oh proven heroes
In the liberation struggle.
Who loves their country more than themselves?
And more miserable than life!
America! America!
May God refine your gold
Until all success is nobility
And every divine benefit!

O beauties for patriotic dreams
This is what it looks like for many years
Thin sparkling city of alabaster
Impervious to human tears!
America! America!
God gives you his grace
And honor your goodness with brotherhood
From the sea to the sea lights!

story of the song

While hiking in Colorado in 1893, Katharine Lee Bates was undoubtedly inspired to write one of the most famous songs in American history. Bates was a professor, poet, and writer who hiked Pike Peak (by wagon and mule) with other University of Colorado teachers.

After the long journey, they reached the top and enjoyed the beautiful view.

At the 14,000 foot summit, Katharine stood in awe and thenremember this moment:”I was very tired. But when I see the scene, I feel very happy. All the wonders of America seem to be on display there, with an openness like the sea. “

Bates wrote a poem from this experience, first published in July 4, 1895The Congregationalist. The poem was set to music by Silas G. Pratt a few months later, and by 1900 more than 75 musical versions existed.

But it was Samuel Ward’s 1882 anthem “Materna” that stood the test of time and is the tune Americans know and sing today. The lyrics have also changed, although Bates was always the author. She updated them in 1904 and for the last time in 1911.

O beautiful halcyon sky,
The following applies to the amber particle waves:
For the majesty of the purple mountain
Above the glazed level!
America! America!
God gives you his grace
Until the souls merge like the earth and the air
And the sea of musical hearts!

O beauties for pilgrim feet
Its stern, heated tension
A way to conquer freedom
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God gives you his grace
Until the road is paved with wild thoughts
By pilgrims’ feet and knees!

O beauties for glorious history
Solve a conflict,
If once or twice for the sake of man’s willingness
Men waste precious lives!
America! America!
God gives you his grace
Until selfish interests are spotless,
Banners for free!

O beauties for patriotic dreams
This is what it looks like for many years
Thin sparkling city of alabaster
Impervious to human tears!
America! America!
God gives you his grace
Until the big men hold back again
Your whiter anniversary!

“America the Beautiful” is an American patriotic song. The lyrics were written by Katharine Lee Bates and the music composed by church organist and choirmaster Samuel A. Ward.

Lyrics:

O beautiful for spacious skies,

For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountain majesties

Above the fruited plain!

America! America!

God shed his grace on thee

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet

Whose stern impassioned stress

A thoroughfare of freedom beat

Across the wilderness!

America! America!

God mend thine every flaw,

Confirm thy soul in self-control,

Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved

In liberating strife.

Who more than self their country loved

And mercy more than life!

America! America!

May God thy gold refine

Till all success be nobleness

And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream

That sees beyond the years

Thine alabaster cities gleam

Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!

God shed his grace on thee

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for halcyon skies,

For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountain majesties

Above the enameled plain!

America! America!

God shed his grace on thee

Till souls wax fair as earth and air

And music-hearted sea!

O beautiful for pilgrims feet,

Whose stem impassioned stress

A thoroughfare for freedom beat

Across the wilderness!

America! America!

God shed his grace on thee

Till paths be wrought through

wilds of thought

By pilgrim foot and knee!

O beautiful for glory-tale

Of liberating strife

When once and twice,

for man’s avail

Men lavished precious life!

America! America!

God shed his grace on thee

Till selfish gain no longer stain

The banner of the free!

O beautiful for patriot dream

That sees beyond the years

Thine alabaster cities gleam

Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!

God shed his grace on thee

Till nobler men keep once again

Thy whiter jubilee!
