WHERE AM I FROM? I come from the clothespin from chlorox and carbon tetrachloride. I come out of the dirt under the back porch. (black, glitter, it tastes like beetroot.) I come from the forsythia bush Dutch elm I remember their long lost limbs as if they were my own.
I’m from fudge and glasses

I’m the one who knows everything
and utilities,
from Perk up! and pipe down!
I come from Him and restore my soul
with a cotton sheep
and ten verses I could speak for myself.
I’m from Artemus and Billie’s Branch
fried corn and hearty aubergines.
I lost my grandfather’s finger
to the drill,
My father’s eyes closed to keep his sight.
There is a box of clothes under my bed spill old pictures, a sieve of lost faces floating beneath my dreams. I come from these moments-- Take a picture before I buddha - fallen leaves from the family tree. – By George Ella Lyons
This is my attempt
WHERE AM I FROM? I come from cardboard rockets of books and unicycles. I come out of a shack, white paint is peeling a perfect kitchen floor for heaven and hell on winter days. I come from the old elm tree in front of my window who the leaves waved "come and play" like a good friend - is gone now. I come from bare feet and great forts built in the summer heat from Grandpa, Ralph and Mike. I come from a half truth and a complete lie of missed opportunities and opportunities. I come from the fruit box my father carried on his shoulder from a kaleidoscope of vegetables for dinner. I come from a grandmother with twelve children and little time for poetry, and of birds of prey that sat on my father's fist. Every week the tram offers a new adventure hidden between the pages.
