Because of so much disagreement between academic scholars and those close to believing and following the Bible, it can be difficult to determine when the Bible books were written. Because it is difficult to know when these stories were first written in history, the dates in this list are based on information presented in the Bible and are widely accepted by biblical people.

Whether these dates are consistent with the actual date is open to debate.and discussions were held for both sides. There are other events in the Bible that are and are not historically correct. However, this list includes what many consider to be the oldest books in the Bible.

This Book of DeuteronomyIt is the fifth book of the Bible and the last book of the Pentateuch. Deuteronomy completes the story of Moses. In Deuteronomy, Moses speaks his last words and prepares to hand over the leadership of the Israelites to Joshua.

Like other books of the Torah, Moses is believed to have written most of the book of Deuteronomy. It is clear, however, that someone else edited the story, most likely after the death of Moses. The English title of the book is based on the Greek translation of the Old Testament and is named after the list of numbers in the book.
