He was the founder of the Al Bu Falah dynasty which ruled the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). As the leader of the Bani Yas tribal confederation, he decided in 1761 to send a hunting party from Liwa. The group tracked an antelope to a brackish spring that would later become a symbol of Abu Dhabi. Dhiyab ordered his son Shakbut to move to the island in 1793, during which time he continued to build a village of about 20 houses and a fort.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyanwas born on March 11, 1961. He is the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. In addition, Mohamed bin Zayed is also Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces. He is considered the architect of the UAE’s interventionist foreign policy. Since suffering a heart attack in 2014, Khalifa has been the de facto ruler of Abu Dhabi. Mohamed takes care of the public affairs of the state.

Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan(December 1, 1956 – November 18, 2019) was a member of the Al Nahyan family and a politician. He served as the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. He is the second son of UAE founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan with his third wife Sheikha bint Madhad Al Mashghouni. He was educated at Millfield School in Somerset, England and graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Sheikh Khalifa, the current President of the United Arab Emirates and current Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed is his half brother.

He is the half-brother of the current Emir and President of the UAE, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Hamdan bin Mubarak al Nahyan, born in 1959, is a member of the Al Nahyan family in the United Arab Emirates. Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Nahyan is the name of his father who served as Interior Minister. He is the grandson of Mohammad bin Khalifa bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, grandson of Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan.
In March 2013 he was elected Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research. Previously, his brother Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan also held the post for 23 years.
