Centripetal Force

When an object moves in a circle, or when an object is said to move in a curve, a force is exerted on it, pointing the object toward the center of the circle. This force is responsible for keeping the object moving in a circle and is called the centripetal force. The centripetal force acting on a body is always perpendicular to the displacement. The centripetal force is the product of mass and the square of the tangential velocity divided by the radius. It is known as a real force. It depends on the mass of the object, the speed at which the object is moving, and the radius of the circle in which the object exhibits curvilinear motion. In summary, the centripetal force is the force that helps maintain a smooth circular motion of objects, on the contrary, they tend to move in a straight line.
