Multi-read content mission san antonio de padua

San Antonio Padua, founded in 1771, was gradually restored during the 20th century. During 1903-1908 the Landmarks Club raised funds for the restoration of the historic 1813 church. From 1948 to 1952 the traditional missionary courtyard was largely rebuilt with funding from William Randolph Hearst and the Franciscans who turned it into a retreat center.

San Antonio de Padua’s extensive restoration and pristine setting make it one of the more scenic missions in California.

The Historical and Contemporary Image Gallery contains many examples of paintings, illustrations, original photographs, and contemporary photographs from the California mission known as “The Sierras Mission”.
